The Director is a comedic and creative performance where two very different worlds collide: an artist and an ex-funeral director. Cleverly balancing humour with the tragic elements of death, The Director looks into what happens after death and why.

Dying Together
Thursday 26th September
Dying Together is an exploration of how the media looks at death. In a deeply moving and profound physical thought exercise, the public are invited to reflect on situations where many people have died together and how we experience these moments through the media. Created by Amsterdam-based artist, Lotte Van Den Berg, Dying Together hopes to raise awareness about the conflicts and contradictions present in society.

Island
Thursday 26th September
A film in which four individuals experience the year in which their lives will end. This incrediby moving film looks into the relationship formed, how they shift and intensely private moments of individuals at the end of their lives. Filmed over a 12 month period on the Isle of White, death is shown to be natural and everyday but also unspeakable and strange. The film was premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival 2018 and won Best Documentary British Independent Film Awards.

We Need to Talk About Death
Friday 27th September
Diving into Joanna Rosenfeld’s personal stories and tender reflections of death she has encountered with her family. We Need to Talk About Death hopes to have a playful look into our relationships with dying, mortality and asking what is too much? Joanna explores and demonstrates how authentic and autobiographical sharing of stories of death affect the audience and gives individuals the space to contemplate their own experiences with loss.

Before the End
Saturday 28th September
Before the End is a story of how Catherine Graindorge, lost her father, Michel Graindorge on 19th April 2015. The story unfolds the relationship and bond between father and daughter, the last 15 months of her father’s life and traces back to those left behind. The story uses real situations, in tender and funny images and humour to explain events, big or small, that have moved Catherine.
