Manchester’s very-own ShinDigger Brewing Company has adapted to the Covid-19 lockdown by launching an on-demand beer delivery service.
The service is open Wednesday – Sunday 14:00-22:00 and during those windows you can order beer to any address inside the M60 and it will be delivered to your door in under 3 hours.
Co-founder George Grant said: “We’ve had to adapt in order to survive. 85% of the beer we produce is packaged into kegs and sold to bars – a market that no longer exists. We transformed our entire business model into a delivery service in just 3 days. We’re like a mini beer Deliveroo now!”
Last week, the first full week of the service, there was an average of 100+ orders per day with four drivers on the road at any one time. George adds, “our social media has been popping off like never before. The best bit is people are treating us like we’re the 4th emergency service, writing little notes in the delivery instructions like “you guys are heroes” and “we love you!”
All deliveries via the new service are zero contact, with drivers placing the beer on the doorstep, ringing the bell and stepping back to handover the beer. The drivers all have stock of cleaning materials in their vehicles and wear fresh disposable gloves for each delivery.
In these times of crisis, it is vital to support small independent businesses to ensure they will still be around when we come out the other side. George mentions, “the new delivery service is keeping the cash coming in – it’s like oxygen into our business and means we can continue to pay the team full wages.”
