The pub in Rochdale has stood for over 300 years and helping as much as poss to help everyone in the pandemic!
The Flying Horse Hotel has stood in Rochdale for 330 years, meaning it has overcome some of the biggest threats to humanity including smallpox, Spanish flu, 6 recessions, 2 World Wars, the rise and fall of an empire, the start and the end of our involvement with the EU, Napoleon, Hitler and Mr Blobby.
This week the hotel declared that it will make a stand to surviving the Covid-19 pandemic, announcing ‘The Flyer will stay open as long as we can, we will always welcome you beautiful Rochdalians into our old pub and help where we can.’
The hotel also has rooms available and is offering rooms for free to people who are temporarily homeless as they avoid endangering vulnerable people at home.
Speaking of Rochdale, The Flying Horse Hotel says ‘(for all that’s said and joked about it) is a welcoming, genuine, friendly, generous and inclusive Town but more that this we are pioneers! We are Leaders! We are the town that had the intelligence and fortitude to guide the world into the industrial revolution but had the heart to start the coop and help abolish child labour in the mils….my family was welcomed here when they travelled over from Ireland and many of our residents have been welcomed from all over the world!!’
