A New £65m Development Announced for Stockport

Bringing 500+ new affordable homes, a green area, co-working space and spots for new shops!

The first images of Royal George Village, a mixed-use scheme to be built on part of the former Stockport College campus have been released by the Manchester-based developer, Investar Property Group.

The 3-acre plot on Wellington Road South and Greek Street will see converted and new-build residential areas as well as co-working space, commercial units and a new green area.

The Torkington building will be converted into 120 new apartments, focussing on affordable homes for Stockport residents. The existing Lyme building will be demolished and a brand new 250 apartment block will be built.

4 existing buildings will be demolished to make way for an underground car park and public realm.

The planning application is expected to be submitted April 2020 with the aim of the site works beginning in early 2021.

“Stockport continues to thrive, and its excellent transport links to Manchester are set to be greatly improved. We welcome the recent announcement by Stockport Council and Transport for Greater Manchester to bid for up to £1bn to deliver an extension of the Metrolink line into the town centre.”
