Dallas Campbell will be sharing top tips for space explorers from his latest book, How to Leave the Planet, a “deeply impractical guide” full of real and imagined space travel stories.
The Late event is a celebration of the arrival of Tim Peake’s Soyuz space capsule at the museum as part of a national tour created by global technology innovators Samsung and the Science Museum Group.
The Soyuz TMA-19M capsule was used by Tim for his Principia Mission, and will be on display at the Museum of Science and Industry from Saturday, March 10 to until Sunday, May 13. Curator Doug Millard will be sharing some special insights into this incredible space capsule.
That’s not the only spacecraft on display – you can also take a stellar selfie with Skybolt 2, a nine-foot rocket that’s really been into space. Made by Manchester-based manufacturer Starchaser, this is the largest rocket in the UK and will be on display for the whole evening in the Upper Yard outside the Great Western Warehouse.
The event will also feature the Wonderdome Planetarium, virtual reality space travel, space rovers, meteorite hunting, stargazing and much, much more.
Get hands-on making holograms, mission patches and constellation coasters. Then refuel with astro food and the space bar. So set your phasers to FUN and prepare to be entertained to infinity and beyond…well, 10pm, which might as well be beyond after a full days work.
