Starting Thursday 24th March 2016 at 6.30pm at Texture, Lever Street, Northern Quarter.

They aim to explore the relationship between film & the societies in which they are viewed.

Asking the questions: How do culture and the wider context inform a film? And how does a film inform the culture around it?

For their first event on the evening of Thursday 24th March 2016 they will focus on Spanish culture and identity in the films of Pedro Almodóvar. There will be an introduction by an academic, a screening of an Almodóvar film, followed by a discussion / Q&A with their three confirmed speakers;

Abigail Loxham, Lecturer in Contemporary Spanish Cultural Studies, University of Manchester.

Chris Perriam, Professor of Hispanic Studies, University of Manchester.

Dr Carmen Herrero Director of FLAME, Research centre for Film, languages and Media in Education.

Screened/ Almodóvar will be a free event however they will have a donation box so they can try and cover the cost of the license for the film, with any extra going to the costs for future events. Seating is limited so reserve your place with a free ticket available on Eventbrite.
