If you haven’t seen the movie Frozen yet…where have you been?!!
The highest-grossing animated movie of all time was released to cinema-goers back in December 2013 and over a year on they still don’t want to Let It Go. From cutlery to costumes the merchandise has sent Mums and Dads into a frenzy clamouring to get their hands on it and give their kids a Frozen fix.
So it seems only right that when Sing-a-long-a Productions were deciding on what to take on tour this year to delight audiences, the most talked about movie of the last 12 months was top of their list!
The Lowry played host to the sell out Sing-a-long-a Frozen this week and there’s another stop at the theatre planned in March for those lucky enough to get a ticket.
Now if you go along thinking that this may just be a full screening of Frozen with lyrics on the screen that you can sing-along to then you aren’t that far off the mark. But, (and this is a big but), it is so much more interactive and fun than you would think.
The jam-packed audience of mini Anna’s, Elsa’s and even the odd Olaf’s are taken on their journey by bubbly presenter and Arendelle villager Ashley who excitedly guides them on what they need to shout at the screen when the movie plays. There’s ‘boos’ for Hans, ‘cheers’ for Christophe and a bag full of fun on every seat, which contains props the audience must use at certain points in the film.
Even if you have watched Frozen for the hundredth time you can’t help but delight at watching it like this and hearing so many kids voices sing their hearts out to every lyric.
Of course the moment that every little one in the audience was waiting for was to catch a glimpse of the real life Elsa and Anna onstage…and trust me they don’t disappoint. The duo of Disney Princesses sing, show off their dance moves and even walk through the aisles saying hello to their biggest fans.
The magic really happens though when the snow starts to fall inside the theatre and whilst it might not be enough to build a snowman with, it manages to melt your heart.
Top Tip: Don’t forget to dress up your little ones in Frozen attire for the occasion and make sure you get your tickets early as they sell out fast!
