The Bay Horse Tavern Announces Martins de Sa' Port Dining Event

This dining event on 25th April hosted by The Bay Horse Tavern, recent winner of the best pub in Greater Manchester 2018, is focused on great food and drinks and is designed to give attendees the opportunity to try and sample some of Douro Valley’s most fabulous wines alongside a specially designed three-course menu.

Martins de Sa’ wines are produced using various grape varieties harvested from six different vineyards in Sao Joao da Pesqueira, Douro Valley Portugal. It is a small family business with quality and a fair price in mind- a member of the family will be there to guide you through tastings and answer any questions you might have.

Using the Martins de Sa’ products, the team at Bay Horse have created a range of accompanying cocktails to enjoy alongside the specially curated dishes. Expect such delights as smoked salmon with lemon Crème Fraiche and caper Ballantine, or pan-seared calf liver with crispy bacon and mash, or tawny port poached pears with mint.

As for the flight of four cocktails, which are £5 each or added alongside the menu for an additional £15 we can look forward to a white port, Aperol and grapefruit spritz, a modern coffee cocktail (which is actually 100% coffee free) designed to go with dessert, or a Digestif of absinthe, Gosling’s Black Seal, bitters and lemon oil to round things off.

Excitingly, the cheese course, which is designed for sharing, comes matched with tiny little samples of Martins de Sa’ port. All the cheeses are British, naturally, and are served with green olives, grapes, and tomato relish and sourdough crackers- perfect for those without a sweet tooth.
