Located on Chepstow Street just off Oxford Road, this location will launch the first of its kind that is outside of the grounds of a prison.
The Clink charity currently runs four cafes inside prisons with an aim of cutting re-offence rates by building hospitality skills such as cookery, front of house, and barista training. This aids inmates in getting a job after they are released.
Opening in mid-April 2018, the café will train alumni of The Clink as well as members of the young homeless population of Manchester with food and beverage qualifications.
Since its conception in 2009, The Clink has had more than 800 graduates from the in-prison training programmes, and many of whom have gone on to work in the hospitality industries after their release.The charity state that their innovative scheme has reduced re-offending rates in young –males by almost 41%.
The Clink is set to open on Chepstow Street in mid-April 2018, so watch this space for more information.
