PKB’s offering has become much-loved by Mancunians since opening in Barton Arcade in October 2014, with the familiar faces of rugby league stars Mark Flanagan and Jon Wilkin at the helm.

Flanagan said: “We are delighted to be opening our second site in the iconic No.1 Spinningfields. This is the first part of our growth strategy planned for next few years in Manchester and beyond.”

Flanagan and Wilkin have a no-nonsense approach to coffee, garnered from the experience of quality coffee whilst playing in Australasia, and added: “When it comes to coffee, the Aussies beat us hands-down. While we languished in coffee purgatory, Australians and New Zealanders created a coffee culture rooted in ruthless quality rather than convenience. It’s the best on the planet.

“We’ve crafted PKB from the desire to build a company dedicated to the art of brewing the best coffee and cooking vibrant, easy-going food.”

PKB’s Spinningfields café will serve an internationally-inspired brunch menu, with modern twists of classic dishes along with a wide range of vegan and gluten free options. Homemade artisan bread and pastries will also be available, fresh from the recently opened PKB Bakehouse in Barton Arcade.

The coffee shop’s design has been a collaborative project with developers Allied London, moulding the space to the warmth of the PKB brand. The unit also boasts a covered outside seating space, located in the building’s central walkway.
