To those of you who have been and know what I’m on about will understand my urgency. Over the past year or two, Umezushi has earnt quite a name for themselves in the Manchester Food scene. Proper, authentic sushi is the name of the game, with an extensive menu and a significant price tag. But, don’t let that put you off. You are paying for fish that is of the highest quality that you can come across in this part of the world, and the masterful skill that is used to prepare it.

The minute, unassuming little restaurant is situated under the railway arches of Victoria Station- the very definition of hidden gem. I bet you’ve walked past it hundreds of times without ever knowing it was there, as it is safe to say that that part of the city doesn’t exactly make you feel hungry. The interior is just as small as you can imagine, with an open kitchen so you can watch the masters at work.

After the monuments success of the restaurant and even an honourable mention in the 2017 Michelin guide, the team are happy to announce their new endeavour. Kitchen In An Arch (KIAA) is the exciting new project which aims to open a Japanese deli and shop for all your sushi making needs. You will be able to purchase all the sushi-grade fish, seafood, and ingredients that are used in the restaurant. All produce will be prepared with the same level of expertise and care as in Umezushi and they even aim to start cooking classes so you can become your very own sushi master.

The project is currently crowdfunding and aims to be off the ground in spring next year – so please donate today and don’t be surprised when sushi-parties become the next big thing.
