The latest addition to Manchester brunch-portfolio comes from Manchester’s hottest new darts bar, Flight Club.
You’ll be given two hours to eat and drink as much PIZZA and PROSECCO as you want, whilst enjoying a game or six of ‘Social Darts’.
In a city where bottomless brunches are in abundance, it’s hard to know where to head on a weekend. It’s probably even harder for the establishments themselves, trying to stand out from the crowd.
Many venues have successfully put a twist on the whole concept, from Cottonopolis’ Japanese-inspired affair right the way over to Gorilla’s excellent Disco Brunch that adds a live DJ and loads of glitter to the mix.
Flight Club, the ‘Social Darts‘ venue on King Street therefore, is serving up a brunch with a difference, and we went on down to check it out.
Flight Club itself is an opulent place to have a few games of darts, it’s cavernous inside and the range of fairground trinkets that are dotted around give the place a clear sense that’s you’re in here to enjoy yourself and have a laugh.
The Social Brunch idea is pretty simple. For a mere £25, Prosecco and unlimited pizza is yours, all while you embark upon a wealth of darts games that massively removed from what you’d find in an old man’s pub.
First of all, let’s talk about the unlimited pizza. When I say unlimited – you better believe it. Even to the point where you’re going to have a dart, a slice of pizza and a glass of prosecco all balanced in one hand and you’re unsure of what to do next. Just don’t throw pizza at the dart board as they frown upon that.
For two hours they will ply you with long wooden paddles of really impressive pizzas, each with a perfectly crisp and thin base and ample toppings. There are 8 to choose from in total, including the classic Margherita, a BBQ-marinated Chicken one and a full-on Italian experience with Coppa salami, rocket and parmesan.
We opted for the Spicy ‘Nduja Sausage with fresh chillies pizza ourselves, it has a serious kick to it but was perfect alongside the ice cold bubbles and the many games of darts we played. It should also be noted that they also do tasty gluten-free options and non-alcoholic cocktails if you’re that way inclined.
This leads on to the dart games themselves. I bet you’ve never played snakes and ladders on a dart board before have you?
There’s a choice of around 5 games I believe. But these aren’t just your standard games of ‘Round the World’ or ‘Let’s just get the bullseye’, these ones can be so much more fun. Our favourite was being able to pair up and go on the attack in ‘Killer’ – aiming to take out the rest of your opponents in one fell swoop.
To really get you in the spirit, you’re even recorded at the Oche and if you clear the board, an action replay comes up on the screen like you’re in your very own darts tournament (minus the beer belly). They send these to you later so you can relive your win time and time again.
If you want a weekend brunch experience with a huge element of fun, then Flight Club is totally up your alley; a brunch that doesn’t involve sitting down and just eating Avocado and Poached Eggs (not that I’m knocking that in the slightest).
The Brunch is also not limited to the size of group, if you want to bring 80 of your mates (if you’re lucky to have that many friends), Flight Club thoroughly encourage this – promoting some healthy competition complete with all you can eat pizza and a good old bottle of fizz.
