The Finest chaps and I headed down to the Disaronno Terrace at The Oast House this week to check out some live music and try some Disaronno cocktails.
The outside space at Oast House is perfect for events like this, mainly covered, a small stage area and plenty of benches it creates it’s own little festival atmosphere.
A couple of weeks ago Newcastle-upon-Tyne’s Little Comets treated the crowd to their winning combination of expert percussion and lilting melody, alongside edgy laptop pop duo Thumpers. They’ve also seen Saint Raymond, indie rock band The Crookes and London three-piece Teleman.
Bringing the Terrace to a close on 20th August will be indie pop duo Summer Camp, alongside Manchester guitar quartet Pins.
Away from the stage, local, artistic talents are captivating guests as they create unique artworks throughout the evening live on La Tela Nera (The Blank Canvas) this week was the turn of DR.Me duo Ryan Doyle and Mark Edwards. Each piece is an original interpretation of the “romantic history of Disaronno” which dates back to 1525.
Mixologists run complimentary master classes and tasting sessions throughout the evening, teaching guests about the secrets behind the perfect Disaronno Sour, which I’d never had, it mixes the sweet taste of Disaronno with the sharp, punchy flavour of freshly squeezed lemon, pretty fresh and being a short cocktail it was my kind of drink.
We had a great evening, not least of which due to the free cocktails, proving once again that 4 ale drinking northerners can spend an evening drinking from a glass decorated with a glazed cherry aslong as it tastes good. I’m looking forward to checking out Pins next week, should be a good send off.
