Where to go for Fireworks this Bonfire Night 2018

Oh we just love watching the sky light up in this country and kind of completely forget the actual reason Bonfire Night exists in the first place.

Understandably, if you can’t bear the thought of unbelievable queues at Heaton Park, then the earlier dates are probably the way to go for you. If, however, you’re traditionalist and can only watch fireworks on 5th November, then there’s plenty of displays to choose from the in the city and a little bit beyond.

Etihad Stadium
Wednesday 31st October
Free entry, fair rides and fireworks from 7:30pm – it’s the only time of year you’ll get into the Etihad for free anyway!

Etihad Stadium, Ashton New Road, Manchester, M11 3FF

Levenshulme
Tuesday 30th October
There’ll be a firework display at Cringle Park on Tuesday night from 7.30pm as well as the obligatory funfair and bags of chips. There won’t be a bonfire though – just the explosions. Free entry.

Cringle Park, Crossley Road, Levenshulme, Manchester, M19 2QP

Manchester Christmas Light Switch On
Saturday 3rd November
Probably one of the most impressive fireworks displays of the year, the Christmas Light Switch On is always busy and always good fun. This year will feature live performances from Jonas Blue, Max George, the cast from Wicked, Dr Dolittle and The Producers. It starts from 7.30pm.

Albert Square, City Centre

Poynton Park
Saturday 3rd November
If you can’t wait until Monday then head to Poynton Round Table’s annual charity bonfire and fireworks display at Poynton Park, starting at 5:30pm which includes a bar and live music! A children’s fireworks display takes place at 7pm followed by the main event at 8pm. This isn’t a free event but all proceeds go to local causes. If you book in advance you can get a discounted family ticket for the price of £20.

Poynton Park, South Park Drive, Poynton, SK12 1BR

City Airport & Heliport’s Firework Spectacular
Saturday 3rd November
This one isn’t free but the amount of money you pay is directly proportional to the amount of explosions you’ll see in the sky. There’ll also be a funfair (of course), food and drink and live music. Tickets are £5.50 for adults and £3.50 for nippers.

Liverpool Road, Eccles, M30 7SA

Abbotsfield Park, Urmston
Saturday 3rd November
Again one that you have to pay for but you’ll get plenty of bang for your buck with the bonfire getting lit at 7pm and the fireworks starting from 8pm. There will also be food and drink available, as well as the obligatory rides and such. Tickets are a fiver for adults, three quid for kids.

Abbotsfield Park, Chassen Road, Urmston, M41 5DH

Heaton Park
Monday 5th November
This is going to be as popular as it is every year – so you’re advised to get there as early as possible and take public transport rather than drive. The bonfire will be lit at 7:30pm and once the bonfire is lit and there are also funfair rides to enjoy.

Heaton Park, Middleton Road, Higher Blackley, M25 2SW

Platt Fields Park
Monday 5th November
Putting the fun in funfair which starts at 5pm and the bonfire lit at 7:30pm, this display is also set to be quite busy so prepare accordingly.

Platt Fields Park, Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 6LA

Wythenshawe Park
Monday 5th November
The bonfire lighting proceeds the firework display in Wythenshawe Park so get down early to enjoy the 7:30pm display.

Wythenshawe Park, Wythenshawe Road, M23 0AB

Buile Hill
Monday 5th November
This is Salford’s main display opening at 6pm with fair rides, food and the best thing about it, booze! You can’t get that at Heaton Park. The bonfire will also be lit at 7pm and fireworks to follow at 7:30pm.

Buile Hill Park, Eccles Old Road, Salford, M6 8GL

Light in the Night Bonfire Blast at Heaton Norris Park
