If you love Meat, Music and Mayhem you are in for a real treat, as the widely acclaimed Grillstock is debuting in Manchester’s Albert Square on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June.
For those of you that haven’t heard of Grillstock, it’s Britain’s answer to the an all-American grill-off and the destination for anyone that loves an authentic hickory BBQ. The festival combines a low’n’slow barbeque competition, international music, a ‘barbeque academy’, unique ‘Brooklyn Brewery Dive Bar’ and a series of knock-out chill and rib-eating competitions.
Having sampled some of the hickory smoked delights myself at the press launch, I have to say I will be lining up to try more. The low’n’slow cooked ribs practically melt in your mouth and the pulled pork brisket is engulfed in a background of smokiness and a touch of sweetness, that left me wanting more!
If it’s foot stompin’ music you’re after, Kitty Daisy and Lewis will be headlining, joined by Grillstock favourites the Congo Faith Healers, combining down and dirty gypsy blues, with wild guitar playing and voodoo vocals. Riot Jazz will provide a twisted mix of funk, soul, hip-hop and jazz, while Dr Tid & the Triple Eights, Manchester’s own Honeyfeet as well as classy country act The Good Intentions.
Tickets are selling out fast, with only a few remaining for Saturday 8th June, however there is still availability for Sunday 9th June.
