Hookworms drummer JN returns to Manchester following the storming success of the Leeds group’s sell-out show at Soup Kitchen, to front his lesser-known but equally brilliant main band COWTOWN. Recorded by Hookworms’ front man MJ in his increasingly reputed Suburban Homes Studio, the trio’s third album Dudes vs. Bad Dudes is an insatiable mix of Devo-esque vocals, earworm hooks and bubblegum punk; it’s full of impacting, spikily delivered sub-three minute songs that linger long in the memory long after they’ve shot off to make room for the next one.

Supporting are MiSTOA pOLTSA, a howling, dissonant proposition who’ve been tearing apart venues through the bulk of 2013 with a thunderous mix of 70’s era garage rock, darkly revolving motorik and a shock of vibrancy that’s all of their own doing. Opening are Tall For Jockeys, a new Manchester-based band turning the heads of blogs Sexbeat and Schoole Of Abuse with their arresting grunge-flecked track ‘Kibitzer,’ which is sumptuously rich in its distortion-driven textures.
