British punk rock royalty King Blues are tearing up club academy, they have a die-hard following of fans and it’s sure to be lively. A perfect example of the crossover between Punk and Hip Hop. Expect strong political references and heavy moshing throughout.

The Irish lads are fresh off the back of a new EP ‘I wouldn’t be’ the boys show no signs of stopping their ever growing popularity. Lead Vocalist Steve Garrigan’s vocals are likely to steal the show. A modern take on Irish folk pop the lads are quickly amassing an impressive catalogue of hits, most notably ‘High Hopes’ and ‘All I want’.
Hurts | 09 Dec | Apollo
The synthpop duo are back in their hometown, last year they sold out the Academy and this month they upgrade to the Apollo. The duo have a unique sound with a mix of ballad-esque vocals and more upbeat pop sounds all with electronic instrumentals. They have kept under the radar for a long time, however, they have recently helped The Courteeners write a big part of their new album and feature vocals on ‘Modern Love’
Chemical Brothers | 09 Dec | Warehouse Project
The Chems take over the Warehouse Project in what has proved to be a huge season for the Manchester movement. The duo have proved themselves time and time again with their new releases and stayed relevant since they formed in ‘89 in Manchester. Their live shows are always a treat on the senses and will be interesting to see what they offer from an indoor DJ set. The boys know exactly what the crowd want and I’m sure the Electronic Kings will not disappoint.
PINS (support The Cribs) | 11 Dec | Gorilla
Female Rockers PINS are not to be taken lightly, the local 5 piece were formed when Faith Vern looked to make an all-female band instead of being a token female member. The girls are full of attitude and bring a fresh sound onto the rock scene. They feature as special guests on the tradition that is ‘The Cribs Cribsmas’ which sees The Cribs taking over Gorilla for 4 nights.
Happy Mondays | 13 Dec | Academy
This will be one of Manchester’s best gigs of 2017! Madchester band Happy Monday are on the road with a 25 date tour of UK and Ireland for November and December. The ‘Twenty Four Hour Party People greatest Hits Tour’ promotes their 30th anniversary of the Happy Mondays debut album ‘Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile’.
Larkins | 14 Dec | Ritz
It’s probably not fair to call these local lads up and coming anymore as they have started a name for themselves on the national scene. Larkins have been grafting as any new band should playing a range of venues across the city. We caught them playing Sofar sounds at Leaf recently and it’s easy to see why they are doing so well. It feels like you’re watching someone who should be playing bigger venues, they get their chance to impress, worth a gamble at £11.

Majestic launches his Limitless live show brand, a cultural multi-genre experience with very special guests. The Limitless show consists of Majestic travelling through all the genres he’s best known for and beyond. Expect surprises with special guest appearances and also a support line up who also have no fear of the unknown.

Our very own Manchester legend in back with his first ever solo album. LG is on the road with his massive sold out arena tour ‘As You Were Tour’. He plays Manchester on the 16th. If you missed out on tickets for this one not to worry he is back in August playing Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Soulwax | 17 Dec | Academy
Unarguably one of the greatest gig of the year so far was Soulwax’s performance at Ritz earlier this year when they let their 3 drummers own the stage. It was genius, perfectly composed and like no other performance of 2017. The brothers are back this time at the much smaller Academy, whether they bring the same stage set is yet to be seen, they are fresh of the release of their new EP ‘Close to Paradise’. Unfortunately it is a Sunday night but tickets available and well worth the fee.
