Rhodan #004: Floating Cities
Saturday 3rd February

‘A multiverse of music and induced synaesthesia…’ I’m not quite sure what that means but apparently there will be chunky, pulsating electronic grooves, infinite techno and hypnotic alien communications on a warm sound system in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Basically, I think it is a night of Deep/Soulful House, Electronic, Minimal Techno, Tech House, Techno Light displays, projected visuals and sound will come together to bring you a space-age experience.

Earth: Bound
Saturday 10th February

Strap in space cadets as we initiate the launch procedures. On this cosmic journey, The Whiskey Jar will host the legendary Chris Massey Music (from Manchester’s very own label Sprechen) as their in-flight commander, expect a healthy dose of Disco, House & Techno as we blast off into the unknown, fueled by Atipyka-VisuaLab. His DJ sets consist of ‘genre-jumping’ through a variety of everything from house, disco, ‘jolly techno’, boogie, afro and much more…you can hear, everything from old to new where original versions are dropped alongside sneaky edits as well as his studio workings. It’s going to be a cracking night- I’ve got my ticket.

Saturday Night Fever + Disco Disco
Friday 2nd March

The idea behind this night is a simple one; they pick a seminal album from 1970’s/80’s in the genre of disco, soul and funk, and then the Dj’s and artists play around that album. This February the album is Saturday Night Fever by the BeeGee’s. Fun Fact-Did you know they were from Chrolton? Somehow that doesn’t seem right but let’s run with it. The local line up consists of Gideon Conn, Playground MCR, Taylor and the Mason and will be followed by the Afro-beat sounds of Disco Disco late into the night.

Odyssey
Saturday 3rd March

Odyssey is a club night hosted by Manchester Dj’s Stef Da Rogue and James Kumo. Inspired by the birth of modern house music, the Odyssey sound reaches back to the days of disco and stretches forward to today’s Balearic house scene. At an Odyssey night, you’re likely to hear a 70’s rock disco re-edit, mixed into classic New York House, mixed into a deep techno track. Odyssey indeed is a homage to house music for music fans who want to dance and celebrate this fantastic soundtrack.
