Manchester International Festival presents the UK premiere of Snoop Dogg: Doggystyle.
Snoop Dogg’s debut album Doggystyle is a record that, for many, defines a genre and a decade. This very special show is a unique multimedia experience that brings together the original featured artists to play Doggystyle in its entirety.
Released in 1993, Doggystyle went straight to number one on the billboard chart and became the fastest-selling debut album of all time – a record that stood until 2000, when it was overtaken by Eminem’s The Slim Shady LP. The distinctive sounds of Doggystyle helped introduce the hip hop style of G-Funk to a mainstream audience, bringing forward West Coast hip hop as a dominant force in the early 1990s.
This event reproduces the entire album with live appearances from original featured guests, Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, RBX, Lady Rage, Joe Cool and Warren G – plus a specially recorded video segment from Dr Dre.
