Shoppers looking for something with a bit of Mancunian flair this Christmas should head to the ‘This is the Place’ gift emporium for products designed and donated by some of the city’s finest creative talent.

Local charity, Forever Manchester has opened a pop-up Christmas gift shop on King Street, Manchester, to raise additional money to fund and support communities across Greater Manchester.

The store takes its name from the famous poem, This is the Place – which was originally written for the charity by Tony Walsh aka Longfella. Throughout November, Tony will be making an appearance in store to sign them for a super special gift for a proud Mancunian. Gifts will include products designed by local artists including Stanley Chow, Factory Records designer Trevor Johnson and Middleton based artist Justin Eagleton.

The unique shopping experience has been supported by friend of the charity The Manchester Shop, based on Oldham Street, which has already raised over £8,000 for Forever Manchester selling its products. Manchester Shop retail Manager Miki Christi – an Ambassador for the charity – has helped develop the range of products and get the site up and running. Products from the Manchester Shop’s Manc and Proud range will also be on sale in store.

It is trading from Thursday 7 to Saturday 23 November at 58 King Street (next to Kiehl’s) in the heart of the city’s retail district and will be open to shoppers Monday to Wednesday 10am – 6pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am – 8pm and Sunday 11am – 5pm.

Nick Massey, chief executive for Forever Manchester said: “We’d love people to make a visit to the This Is The Place shop a key part of their Christmas shopping day in the city centre, to purchase some ‘gifts that keep giving’ with every penny raised going back into supporting our local communities.”
