No, it’s Manchester’s newest ‘it’ place to stay. Opened in November, this beautiful 19th century building not only offers a bed for the night but also a neighbourhood hangout offering yoga, film nights, a creative work space, Foundation coffee shop and more.
Situated on Princess Street, a stone’s throw from the Gay Village and China Town, Whitworth Locke is close enough to most of the city’s best independent bars & shops and Manchester’s famed eccentric nightlife.
This hotel has 160 studios and suites, each one with its own personality. Embracing the history of the former cotton mill, L.S Lowry coffee table books and Chinese art work on the walls makes it a creative space with a mix of authenticity, hospitality and design.
Our Scandi inspired room had peach washed walls with petrol grey highlights. A sexy matt black kitchen with all the amenities and recognising the finishing touches from my favourite brands Hay and Muuto.
The social spaces have an exposed brick floor, hanging green plants and exciting highlights of bright yellow. Towards the rear of the reception is Foundation – offering their usual selection of Instagram ready coffees and a breakfast which would please even the fussiest of eaters.
We needed somewhere to break the mould and create Manchester’s first design lead hotel and Whitworth Locke has certainly done that.
