Start as you mean to go on: New Year’s Day 2018

It’s that time of year when the usual grumbles about New Year’s Eve are in abundance. ‘Everywhere will be packed’, ‘you can’t get served’, ‘only idiots go out on New Year’s Eve’, ‘there’s so much hype and then it’s just a night anticlimax’ etc.

So what better way to beat all the nonsense and skip New Year’s Eve entirely and instead opt for New Year’s Day? Whether it’s a day party or a disco brunch, you can start your 2018 right by partying into the early hours of 2nd January with people that understand and appreciate the more understated, but far better night of the year. After all, who needs dry January?

Warehouse Project –  NYD Closing Party
This is the mother of all events at Warehouse Project the season over, and this year’s line up hasn’t failed to disappoint. A mash up of all the biggest and best DJ’s of the year under one roof, starting at 5pm and going right through to 5am. The highlight is surely to be Denis Sulta who has managed to light up every deck he’s been on at festivals all year long; Parklife and Lost Village festivals being highlights for the Scottish lad.  Once the place has been cleared of the commercial stuff from New Year’s Eve, make way for what promises to be an unforgettable night.

Gorilla – Covert x blow – Camelphat
With arguably the biggest track of the year with ‘Cola’, Camelphat keeps the party going at Gorilla for a Blow! NYD special. Tickets are on final release for this popular event with many supporting DJ’s that will keep you dancing from 8pm – 4am.  You can most definitely start your year as you mean to go on – in style.

Bottomless Brunch at Cottonopolis
As the perfect remedy to whatever ridiculous madness you get up to on the night of the 31st, Cottonopolis will be on hand on New Year’s Day with a metaphorical pillow, bottle of Lucozade and cuddle for mum with their Bottomless Brunch. Not only can you expect one of their brilliant dishes – I’d suggest their Crispy Duck Leg Waffles – but you can then get unlimited Bloody Mary’s – which are sure to sort you out quicker than anything else available to man.

Mantra Warehouse – Catz n Dogz
Just to prove my point further that New Year’s Day is the day to have the biggest party, Mantra Warehouse is hosting the legendary Catz n Dogz to see you going until 5am for as little as £8. Closing their year long run of festivals including SW4, Park Life, Bestival and Exit festival, what better than a dank techno rave at Mantra?

Albert Hall and Albert’s Schloss
Surely you’d be shocked if one of the most vibrant bars in Manchester WASN’T having a New Year’s Day Party? A place where you can party like it’s a Saturday even on a Tuesday, of course they’re putting on a spectacle at Albert’s Schloss. Combined with Albert Hall upstairs, both venues promise a night a twisted cabaret, dancers and musicians. Basically, every night at Albert’s Schloss, but this time with added access to the beautiful Albert Hall.

Cruz 101
No night in Manchester is complete without an end in Canal Street until the very early hours, pretending that the evening is still young and forgetting all inhibitions. Promising to be pulsating across both floors, like every other night of the year, Cruz will help you start off January 2018 in the most debauched of ways. Last entry 6am, doors shut for the night at 8am – what’s to go wrong?
