Next week marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and there’s a lot going on across the city in celebration of Lizzie’s 70 years of service.
From street parties to Jubilee themed club nights, there’s plenty of ways to spend the FOUR DAY bank holiday – but if you’re looking for a bit of fancy food, look no further than The Black Friar.
The bar and restaurant in Salford has announced that for three days only its serving up a very quintessentially British afternoon tea that the Queen herself would order in a heartbeat.
The ‘Jubilee High G&Tea’ has been created exclusively for the occasion by chef, Ben and will consist of a range of fresh and light sandwiches, alongside scones, cakes and patisseries all baked in house.
The sandwich options include Scottish Smoked Salmon, Brown Shrimp, Cornfed Coronation Chicken, British Cured Ham, Pitchfork Lancashire Cheese and Bulford Brown Egg, and will be joined by decadent cakes and indulgent patisseries, alongside plain and fruit scones with traditional jam and clotted cream.
And what’s an afternoon tea without a bit of booze? Your light lunch will also be accompanied by a Didsbury Gin cocktail, who have just partnered with The Black Friar on its brand-new garden bar.
The afternoon tea is only available for guests who have pre-booked and quoted ‘Jubilee High Tea’ in their booking. It’s available in the restaurant’s garden area, main restaurant or the glass room, which is a conservatory at the back of the venue overlooking the picturesque garden. It comes in at £29 per person, and this also includes the Didsbury Gin cocktail.
