On a bleak, rainy summer evening, something that you get far too used to living in Manchester, there’s nothing more inviting than an evening that’s full of warming rum and Pride fundraising from Salford’s very own rum distillery.
Taking over Harvey Nichols’ Second Floor on Thursday 25th August, Salford Rum Company will guide guests through its journey and brand history, teaching every part of the process needed to mix a range of rum-based cocktails.
Tickets are £25 per person, with £20 available to redeem on Salford Rum purchases throughout the evening.
Taking place so close to Greater Manchester Pride 2022, each ticket bought will automatically donate £5 to Salford Pride, too, an organisation working to build a stronger, more diverse community in the city.
The Salford Rum Company was born out of a love of Salford and the rich heritage of its docks during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Throughout this important part of Northern cultural history, Salford Docks became the third largest port in the UK and amongst the imports of the time were rums, fruits and spices from the shores of the Caribbean.
The Salford Rum Company is inspired by these imports and delivers a warming blend of spices, including nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger, combined with sweet vanilla notes, a hint of maple and topped with orange and steeped fruits.
The brand’s rum is copper column distilled in small batches before it is infused with the fruits and spices, filtered and hand-bottled into a ceramic bottle featuring a doodled map of the dockyard, designed by local artist Dave Draws. All this happens just a stone’s throw away from the old Salford Docks.
