Hosted this Thursday evening at popular Manchester comedy spot, The Fitzgerald, Lost in Tib Street is a brand-new theatre show from To Bee Productions set in the swinging 60s.
The production company has partnered with multi-award winning theatre-maker, Selina Helliwell on the new show, which combines elements of jazz, burlesque and theatre to tell the story of two women navigating their lives and joining forces to set up their own cabaret.
Selina Helliwell is a well-known name in the North West theatre scene. Over the years, the performer has won numerous awards, including the award for ‘Best New Producer’ at the Manchester Fringe Festival 2021.
Her work also spans the Royal Exchange, The Palace Theatre, Soho Theatre, New Diorama, 3MT Venue, The Lowry and Waterside Arts Centre in Sale.
In her new Lost in Tib Street production, there are many aspects of the character’s lives that thread through the cabaret-style story, with an LGBTQIA+ storyline, a ‘rivals to friends’ trope (with a big dose of female empowerment) and a whole lot of singing and dancing.
The production is also complete with an array of classic jazz covers and burlesque dance sequences that serve as a fitting start to any festive theatre celebrations.
Previous reviews of the show describe it as ‘vibrant’, ‘powerful’ and ‘funny, in-your-face and very relatable’.
