Local pizza legends Bakehouse32 are moving into the space formerly taken up by the Stretford Food Hall, it’s been confirmed.
They’ll take over a chunk of the former bar, kitchen and food store, and will open for business in the summer.
Bakehouse was previously serving its New York-style pizzas out of their restaurant space on Chester Road.
They’ll be opening for breakfast and lunch, as well as in the evenings, with menu highlights including ‘stateside inspired bagels’, alongside sandwiches made with freshly made focaccia baked in-house.
David Donovan-Brown, owner of Bakehouse32, said: “We are excited to confirm Stretford’s worst kept secret – Bakehouse32 is expanding to a bigger and brighter unit in Stretford town centre.
“We love being a part of Stretford’s brilliant community and can’t wait to continue our journey in the heart of the town centre. Our famous New York style pizzas will, of course, be on the menu and we’re excited to be expanding our menu to include breakfast, creating that day through to night experience.
“We’ll also be joining forces with plenty of other local independent businesses in the area. Keep your eyes out for more exciting announcements coming from us soon.”

The Stretford Food Hall closed its doors in February this year. Owner Mital Morar said at the time that the business, which had been the first to move in around the transformation of Stretford Mall and survived the pandemic, had ‘no more left in the tank’.
The development of the mall area continues, with the reinstatement of the Stretford ‘high street’ area, alongside the building of new apartments and homes, retail and food & beverage units.
It’s due to be completed in early 2025.
