Nell’s Pizza to open new branch on former Croma site off Albert Square

Nell’s Pizza is moving into the site of a Manchester pizza institution – the site left vacant by Croma, off Albert Square.

It’ll be the fourth branch for Nell’s Pizza in Manchester – after Common in the Northern Quarter, The Beagle in Chorlton and the first dedicated Nell’s at Kampus.

They also have a pizza kitchen under the arches at Piccadilly, which takes care of the delivery arm of the growing Manchester pizza brand (and you can also get it served to your table at the Sureshot and Balance breweries).

The new site will not only serve up New York-style pizzas – served by the slice right up to 22-inches – but will also have entertainment programming and events planned too.

Nell’s founder Jonny Hayes said: “‘We can’t wait to open in such an iconic building, it’s got a really special place in the hearts of Manchester and we’re going to really inject some fun into it.

“Expect big ‘za on the other side of town, a dedicated bar space and loads of events programming to really bring it to life.”

The new site is set to open in the Autumn.

Croma closed its city centre branch in 2022, after 22 years at the site on Clarence Street. Croma also closed its Didsbury branch in 2023.
