Throughout the spring and summer, Manchester’s favourite outdoor hot-spot will be taken over by northern talent from all industries; be it food, crafts, beauty or entertainment. And the best part- all of the events are completely free so you, your friends and family can head down for a day of love, laughter and second-to-none food! Can’t complain about that…
Accidentally Vegan- Saturday 7th April
This April, Sadler’s Yard will be welcoming vegetarians and vegans across the city for their quirky market takeover- Accidentally Vegan. The event- which is the first of three events to run on a monthly basis till June- will be taking place on Saturday the 7th of April from 11am-4pm, and welcomes people of all ages to come and enjoy what’s on offer.
The markets will feature a range of stalls which will be selling delicious vegan and vegetarian food, drinks, home-ware and locally produced handmade gifts, all of which are 100% eco-friendly! Sabroso Street, Purely Pizza and Vaso Kitchen will be serving mouth-watering, fresh vegan and vegetarian street-food which you’ll be able to wash down with on-tap modern craft Vegan beer, at the Pilcrow Pub.
If however you’re looking to purchase some unique products, some of the stalls will be ran by Old Man + Magpie Candle Co, The Pasta Factory, Little Orange Co and Dot Dot Dot Jewellery and many more- who will be selling anything and everything from beauty products to plants. So if you’re looking for a family friendly, dog friendly, free event- you know where to go!
A Good Market- Saturday 5th May
On Saturday 5th May, Sadler’s Yard will be hosting a celebration of good food and independent producers- a prequel to the main event at the end of the month. Whilst A Good Feed Festival will take place at the end of May, A Good Market still aims to educate and show people how important it is to source your food from professional and reliable producers.
Whilst some traders and designers are still yet to be confirmed, visitors can enjoy scrumptious street food from, Knead Pizza, BON Street Food and Nyama Choma, whilst enjoying great music from Better Days DJ. SWALK Creative, Dormouse Chocolates, Plant Shop Manchester and Ancoats Coffee will also be making an appearance, so you’ll have plenty of amazing products to splash your cash on!
Retro Revival- Saturday 9th June
Time to hop in your time machine and head to Sadler’s Yard for a full Retro Revival. This market aims to celebrate and bring back traditional and vintage products and produce, including food by Barnhouse Bistro and take home tea and coffee from Parched Tea Bar and Ancoats Coffee.
But let’s be honest, what would a retro day be without vinyl? Exactly- so we sure to pick up your favourites from one of the many vinyl stalls that will be stationed at the square. Get out your flares and cord trousers out because we are going totally vintage for the day, baby!
A GOOD FEED- Thursday 24th- Bank Holiday Monday 28th May
The simple pleasures in life are always the most rewarding- wouldn’t you agree? Good food, good company, a good atmosphere- nothing can beat it. That is why Sadler’s Yard will be hosting a celebration of the North’s finest independent food and drink producers, who will be stationed for four days to offer second-to-none food using the humblest of ingredients.
This event is all about community and skill, so will see an open fire at centre stage which will be used to cook one-off dishes every single day by some of the best chefs in the North. There will be fun, interactive workshops for you all to get involved in, including cheese making classes to kebab building- all of which are completely free.
This long weekend will kick off with A Good Seed Symposium, a projected aiming to shine a light on the food and drink industry in the north. How does it shape our cities? How does it affect our communities? And can provide a more promising future for younger generations? I could tell you the answers right now, but where would be the fun in that? I guess you’ll have to head down and find out for yourself…
