In case you haven’t been, Flight Club is Manchester’s latest bar with a difference. Step inside the glorious carnival-themed space and prepare to put your best foot forward because you are here to play a game of darts.
But Flight Club is so much more than that. Not only are the digitalised boards programmed with loads of different fun and interactive games to play, but there is also pizza galore and every drink you could possibly dream of.
We popped down one day after work for a throw or two and a taste of as many of their stunning cocktails as we could manage…
All Night Negroni
As far as I am concerned – the negroni is the king of all cocktails. Not only is it delicious, you also get your money’s worth in terms of the booze. This slightly sweeter version from Flight Club contains Belsazar White, Tanqueray Gin and Campari in equal measure and tops it up with lychee juice over plenty of ice. Delicious.
Matilda’s Margarita
I don’t know who Matilda is, but she makes a bloody good marg. This little number has all the usual ingredients (tequila, lime and agave syrup) with the addition of a little rhubarb and ginger liqueur for that added extra tangy oomph!
Tankard Ten
My mother always told me not to mix my drinks, but when it tastes this good – I cannot stop myself. Tankard Ten mixes cider with gin (I’m having flashbacks from house parties when I was 15) but in a nice way with added peach puree, lemon juice, sugar syrup and peach liqueur which makes a sweet, fruity beverage which is perfect for summer.
Rose-ito
Rose is one of those love it or hate it things I reckon, but either way, you are going to love this floral cocktail from Flight Club. The base is Lanique rose liqueur mixed with lime juice, sugar syrup, loads of mint and topped up with soda. It’s like drinking perfume in the best possible way.
Raspberry Rose
If champagne is your bag then you are going to LOVE the Raspberry Rose. That pesky rose liqueur makes an appearance once again alongside lemon, raspberry puree and sugar syrup and is finally topped up with some bubbles. It doesn’t get much better than that eh?
Dancing on Iced Tea
Once when I was in Berlin, I drank so many Long Island Iced Teas that I practically forgot who I was and ended up falling asleep on a bench at the U-Bahn. What a night. I was filled with so much nostalgia when I tried this version down at Flight Club and it was so much better than I ever remembered with the addition of blue tea syrup and peach liqueur to boot.
A Little Bit Lychee
You’ll find floral notes a-plenty with this delicious drink. Enjoy Old Curiosity Lavender & Echinacea with a bit of lychee syrup and lemon juice for a sharp, sweet and aromatic beverage which has Friday night with the girls written all over it.
Sweet Success
This drink is a Flight Club Classic and no visit is complete without one. Ciroc Vanilla makes the base and is shaken over ice with Koko Kanu, pineapple juice, passionfruit puree, lemon juice and a dab of grenadine for its pretty pink hue. This is the first drink I ever tried at Flight Club, and it certainly won’t be my last.
