Live music, DJs, markets… there will even be an appearance from a fitness legend at this year’s We Invented The Weekend festival.
Taking place on 15 and 16 June, more than 200 events and activities will be happening over the free festival weekend.
It will also encompass the likes of The Lowry, the Central Bay bar and foodhall, as well as many of the outside spaces around Media City and Salford Quays.
The likes of DJ Paulette, Zed Bias, DJ Roesh, Eves Drop Collective, Secret Night Gang, Mix Stress and LIINES will be among those providing the musical soundtrack, while the Sounds From The Other City will be taking over Central Bay and its waterside terrace.
Great British Sewing Bee host Patrick Grant will be among those joining the festival’s We Think Big series of talks over the weekend, alongside the likes of Manchester’s Night Time Economy Advisor and Parklife co-founder Sacha Lord and designer and We Invented The Weekend co-founder Wayne Hemingway.
British Cycling will be hosting BMX sessions and RHS Bridgewater will be showcasing various activities and gardening workshops.
Darren Pritchard will be hosting the first ever People’s Catwalk fashion show, which will allow anyone to come and show off their style.
Meanwhile at The Lowry will host aerial dance duet from All or Nothing on The Swings and a flash mob from SIX the musical, while Mr Motivator will be doing CBeebies themed workouts, alongside live performances from Bluey and performances from the BBC Philharmonic.
Retail-wise Melanin Markets, Patrick Grant’s Community Clothing and Charity Super.Mkt will be selling clothes and other goods, while food traders will include Jerk Junction, Super Fry Guys and Hot & Wild.
Wayne Hemingway said: “We Invented the Weekend celebrates Greater Manchester’s gift to the world in a truly unique and special way.
