Bistec Asadores
La Bandera
La Bandera recently had a big change of their menu, offering up more tapas dishes than ever before. One of the new additions was this, the Bistec Asadores, or Grilled Flat Iron Steak to us non-Spanish speakers out there. The meat itself was charred to perfection and so, so juicy. It’s cooked in a Canarian speciality – Mojo Rojo sauce which is outstanding. I ate it all and I’m not even sorry. – Jale Hardy

Chicken Burrito
Revolucion de Cuba
This Tuesday I took advantage of Revs’ burrito and a mojito deal for just 8 quid. Firstly I’d just like to point out that this is just a cracking treat and will make anybody’s Tuesday a hell of a lot better. I opted for a chicken burrito stuffed with big chunky slices of marinated chicken, plenty of rice, beans and melted cheese. The whole thing is served with a spicy guacamole and tortilla chips. And you will leave full to the brim let me tell you. After a swift mojito I was ready for a nap. – Alex Watson

Squash Fondant
Alvarium
In case you’ve missed it, a brand new bloody incredible vegan restaurant and bar has just opened it’s kitchen doors in the Northern Quarter. Now I’m not vegan but if I had the power and skill to create food this delicious and inventive every night, I’d definitely seriously consider it. But I burn toast so we are where we are. A large fondant of squash with celeriac, date and shallow compote, tamarind, charred broccoli and toasted almonds. It’s the perfect autumnal dish to get you in the mood. I urge vegans, meat eaters and everything in between to try Alvarium’s amazing new menu and see if it can convert you too. – India Morris

Huevos Rancheros
The Counter House
Another new menu this week and as we went down to get images and a video at The Counter House in Ancoats and of course, eat them out of house and home. Bad news for my massive belly but great news for my taste buds – the new dishes on offer are great – with a stand out certainly being the Huevos Rancheros. It’s basically a Breakfast Burrito but open and it’s amazing. Eggs, Beans, Guac, Sour Cream, Cheese Sauce and Salsa – all in a crispy tortilla bowl. Lovely stuff. – Ben Brown

Sea Bass & Tuna Ceviche
Peru Perdu at The Cotton Factory
Two for the price of one here because I couldn’t pick which one to go for. The Cotton Factory’s latest residency has recently opened with a South American dining concept. The menu is full to bursting of all sorts of amazing dishes including a fantastic range of plant based options. I opted for the Tuna Ceviche served with coconut, olive, chilli, corriander sprigs and crunchy plantain crisps. As refreshing and tropical as it sounds. The Sea Bass dish is served with samphire, asparagus, tomato and a good sprinkling of macadamia nuts and is truly a treat to the tastebuds. – Ellie Edginton

Chilli Cheese Fries
The Pen & Pencil
The team at Pen & Pencil launched a new menu this week and I went down to get a load of pics of it. There’s LOADS on the new menu and I got to taste most of it – I was very impressed to say the least. My favourite though, and perhaps this shows a little bit too much of my character – was the chips. I bloody love chips and their Chilli Cheese Fries were fit AF. Topped with homemade chilli and melted cheese – I couldn’t get enough. – Ben Brown

Potato Hash
Foundation
Foundation have recently launched a brand new food menu to rival anyone else’s in the city. I opted for a giant plate of Potato Hash. Potato hash at home is deffo slightly different and comes with a lot of gravy, do you know what kind I mean? Anyway this is like it’s cooler sister, the breakfast hash. A plate full of sauteed, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the middle potatoes served with halloumi, red onion, peppers and aubergine, all topped with a chilli fried egg. Absolutely terrific. – Joe Wilson
