XS Malarkey Online
Tuesday 5th May
Another week and another brilliant online bit of stand up from the XS Malarkey team. This week sees Rob Rouse, Tony Law, Alice Fraser and more take to the erm… virtual stage for some serious comedy musings. I suspect most of them will be talking about the hilarious side of being in lockdown – which will definitely help us all look on the bright side of being stuck in our houses playing Skyrim for the 50th time.

Labyrinth on Netflix
Available from Tuesday 5th May
There are two things that disturb me about the movie Labyrinth. One is that stupid glass ball that David Bowie keeps playing with, and just how annoying it is when the camera cuts to (clearly) someone else doing all the tricks while David takes all the credit. Secondly, I get a little flustered and upset with just how tight his trousers are. Surely, they were blocking blood flow to something – they just look too uncomfortable. If you want a good time though – it’s on Netflix now – so get involved.

May Day Bank Holiday
Friday 8th May
Is it always a Friday that we have this Bank Holiday? Because I always thought it was a Monday? Well, apart from Good Friday. I don’t know what’s going on here but my Google Calendar tells me that it’s a Bank Holiday this week and who’s to argue with that? Not me. So – what to do? Well, have a look through this list – there’s a couple of things going on but if none of that takes your fancy – just chill in the garden with some ciders. The weather looks great. Not got a garden? Gutted – sorry.

VE Day
Friday 8th May
Not only is this a bank holiday, it’s also the 75th Anniversary of VE Day – or ‘Victory in Europe Day’ – the day that the Germans finally decided to call it quits after the Russians took over Berlin and their leader shot himself. Wait. THAT’S WHY the Bank Holiday is on Friday! Makes sense now. What to do? Well, we’re all in lockdown so it’s going to be hard – maybe have some crumpets, tea and gin in the garden? Watch The Great Escape on telly? Eat powdered egg and corned beef butties? Whatever you do – enjoy yourself please and stay safe.

Hacienda House Party Part II
Saturday 9th May
Number two in the Hacienda House Party vibes, and number one in the massive line-up for the weekend on United We Stream. It’s another 12-hour party – and as per usual I don’t know the line-up as of yet – the United We Stream team are keeping this tightly secure and close to their chests. Usually waiting for me to get this out and then letting us know – making me look like a right tool. Who am I kidding? Nobody reads this.

Stay Homo – Homoelectric 12-hour Stream
Sunday 10th May
What a big weekend this is for us Mancs (and the United We Stream platform). Hacienda House Party on Saturday followed by this… Homoelectric baby! If the HUGE Homobloc Festival last year is anything to go off – this one is set to be VERY popular and should be brilliant – as always. Grab the tightest pair of leggings you own, douse yourself in glitter and let’s do this properly.
