This Northern Quarter establishment has been serving us bagels, cocktails and overall fun for a little over a year now, and it is difficult to imagine what NQ life would be like without them. Eat New York’s Bagel Shop is offering 50% off food all January between Tuesday and Friday as well as BOGOF cocktails all week long. Just in case that isn’t enough for you, they are also offering a sweet 50% off bookings of their food trucks and office deliveries, so you really don’t have any excuse to get your chops around one of those juicy, juicy bagels.
Tattu – 30% OFF Food (quote TATTU30 when booking)
I was lucky enough to go and review Tattu this year and it is safe to say I was utterly blown away. There is nothing bad to say about the place – a great ambience, fantastic drinks and as for the food, well, there aren’t really words to describe it. Tattu are known for their modern approach to Chinese cooking, and each dish is both classic and contemporary all at once – something they are really famous for here in Manchester. This January you will receive a sweet 30% off your food bill which means everything will taste that little bit sweeter.
Harvey Nichols – 2 Courses for £18, 3 for £22
The winter dining menu is BACK at Harvey Nichols Second Floor Brasserie and it is full to the brim with delicious, seasonal dishes which are exactly what you need to get you out of that post-Christmas slump. Dishes include soothing butternut squash and feta gnocchi dish, or a helping of Salmon Rockefeller with garlic and parsley potato cakes. Sounds good right? You can enjoy two of these courses for £18 with a cocktail thrown in, or three for £22 Monday-Friday from 12 pm and Saturdays from 5 pm.
Lawn Coffee- 1/3 off Brunch
It is safe to say that Lawn Coffee is one of the best-hidden gems in the city. Tucked away in the Princess Street Hotel is the small, but perfectly formed coffee shop which serves up a range of brews and grub in the form of cakes, afternoon teas, sandwiches and brunches. The latter is a real favourite of mine, and what’s more is that until 31st March, you can enjoy it with a sweet 1/3 off. This offer is valid on all brunch dishes – all you have to do is quote ‘MCR Brunch’ when ordering.
The Bay Horse Tavern – 50% OFF Food
This is a dangerous one this. With 50% off food this January it means you can get even more portions of The Bay Horse’s amazing Thrice Cooked Chips than before – certainly not good for any potential diet you were looking to start in 2019. There are not just chips though of course, with a menu packed with a whole range of comforting pub grub to tackle. The offer excludes Saturdays and Sundays and booking is recommended.
WOOD – 2-4-1 Tasting Menus
The New Year sees Simon Wood add new seasonal dishes to his blind tasting menu and diners can try them at a discounted rate of 2 for 1 at selected times throughout the month. The offer is available at lunch time Tuesday to Friday (12 – 2.30pm) and in the evening Tuesday to Thursday (5 – 10pm) . It is only applicable on the five and seven course menus and only covers the cost of food – no drinks are included. Diners must book in advance to qualify. Two sets of five courses will cost £49, seven courses for £69. Wine flights can be added for an additional cost. For diners with an odd number in their party the final diner will receive their tasting menu at half price. Offer ends 31st January.
Cottonopolis – 5 dishes for £18
Throughout January, Japanese inspired bar and restaurant Cottonopolis, is running a special menu for just £18pp which is one hell of a saving. The menu has five sections (snack, sushi, soup, tempura and donburi) where you will choose one dish from each section to share. Some of these dishes include fried goyza skins, crab tempura, wakame miso soup and beef and mushroom donburi which I can say from experience are all stunning options. This is for a minimum of two people and will run Monday through until Thursday and you must book in advance to enjoy this offer.
Fumo – 50% OFF Food
Valid every day from 1st – 31st January, with limited availability on Friday evenings. The offer is not available after 5pm on Saturday evenings. Bookings must be made online, bookings of 6 or more will need to contact the restaurant by telephone to make a reservation.
Adam Reid at The French – 3 Courses for £35
I think the only bad thing I can say about the concept of fine-dining is that it isn’t always that accessible. But this January, one of Manchester’s finest fine dining establishments – Adam Reid at The French- is offering an incredible three-course menu which is the opposite. This menu only costs £35 and will contain three stunning courses with a cocktail which will be of the same quality and sophistication as one of the nine-course deals but on the micro scale. I honestly can’t think of anything better. This menu is available at dinner time Tuesday-Thursday and lunch Thursday-Saturday. Pre-booking is required.

20 Stories – 2 Courses for £25 or 3 for £30 with a glass of Chandon
I’ve got to say I am pretty excited about this one because I have been to taste the menu, and I can honestly say you guys are in for a serious treat. In January, 20 Stories on top of No. 1 Spinningfields is putting on a special menu where you can enjoy three courses for £30 or two for £25 with a glass of Chandon sparkling wine. Expect stunning dishes like Smoked Mackerel Mousse, Rose Veal Rib-Eye and the famous Manchester Tart. Available in January only or a maximum of 6 guests and you must book in advance, being sure to quote ‘MF20’ as this an exclusive offer for Finest readers. This offer is available Monday-Friday 12 pm- 2:30 pm and Monday-Thursday 5:30 pm – 7 pm.

The Lowry Hotel- 3 courses for £19.95
We love The Lowry Hotel’s River Restaurant and one of the many reasons why is the monthly Chef’s Choice menu full of seasonal, fine dining delights. The Chef’s Choice menu is a bargain at the best of times, but right now it is even better with two delicious courses for £16.95 and three for £19.95. It doesn’t get much better than that now does it?
BAB – 50% OFF Kebabs, Happy Hour all the time & more
BAB opened its doors on Little Lever Street a few weeks back and it is safe to say it is the new (cool) kid on the block. They have an offering of posh kebabs which we can enjoy at a sweet half price Monday-Thursday throughout the month. They will also be running happy hour all the bloody time which means we can enjoy £3 Berliner, £10 house wine and £15 Prosecco to wash it all down not forgetting 2 for £6 on their delicious homemade iced teas to boot.
24 Bar & Grill – 50% off Food
Situated in the basement of The Princess Street Hotel is 24 Bar and Grill which is home to a delicious menu of restaurant classics like burgers, steaks, fish & chips and, mussels, and scotch eggs. Until the end of March, you can enjoy 50% off food when you book in advance. You must order a minimum of two courses and one must be a main dish with a £5 supplement with the steaks. Just remember to let them know you intend to use the offer when you book.
Elnecot – 40% OFF Food & 20% OFF Drinks
This brilliant Ancoats restaurant are offering a whopping 40% off food and a very welcome 20% off booze this January. As is always the case, you’ll need to get yourselves booked in for a table through their website beforehand. There’s also a bit of weird opening hours going on too – as they don’t open up until Friday 4th, then they’re closing again from the 7th – 10th. Normal hours start again on Friday 11th so fill your boots.
Alston Bar and Beef – 2 courses and a gin £15
Instead of making you all confused with percentages and numbers Alston Bar and Grill have instead decided to just offer you a simple but brilliant deal this January – 2 courses and a bit of gin for only £15. The food here is bloody brilliant – so fill your boots.
Salvi’s – 40 % off Food
It isn’t a secret that Salvi’s is one of Manchester’s best Italian restaurants, and it is certainly an all-around favourite amongst all. The good news is that both The Cucina and The Mozzarella Bar are offering 40% off food for the whole of January from Sunday- Thursday for parties up to six people. The bad news is you are therefore going to eat so much pasta and pizza that you will have turned into a ball of dough before the month is out. Totally worth it though.

La Bandera – 50% OFF Food with code LB50MF
It is near impossible to keep team Finest out of La Bandera, and it is certainly one of our favourite restaurants’ hands down. If you haven’t been, the offering is authentic tapas with a peppering of traditional Canarian cuisine which is where the owners come from. First of all – these offers can be used only when you pre-book, and not on Friday or Saturday evenings and certainly not on any set menus or the lunch menu. Got that? Good. Here we go; Between the 2nd Jan and the 6th Jan you can get 40% off food between Monday and Sunday. From the 7th – 113th – it’s 30%. Fress, who have a site on Oldham Street and one down in East Didsbury are known for a few things. One of them is brunch, another of them is cocktails, and another is their small plates and let’s not even get into their baked goods for fear that I might start dribbling all over my keyboard. There is nothing quite like a slap up curry is there? In the winter months when it is cold outside and dark at 3 pm, sometimes all we need is a comforting bowl of curry to warm our cockles from the inside out. This January, Scene is offering a sweet 50% off a selected menu which includes all your favourites from Samosa Chaat, Reshmi Kebab, Chicken Madras and Karahi Gosht served with one of their delicious home cooked Indian breads. Iberica is all about Spanish food done right. I must admit that I’m not much of a fan of Thai food. Too much lemongrass, coriander and coconut for me thanks. But who gives a shit what I think when you can bag yourself 40% off food at Thaikhun this January. For that kinda discount I’d eat endless amounts of lemongrass. Make sure you pre-book though, as well as ensuring you eat between the days of Sunday and Thursday.
Crazy Pedro’s – Slices for £2 / Full Pizza for £10 (EXTENDED HAPPY HOUR)
It’s no secret that Crazy Pedro’s have one of the best Happy Hours in the city, where you can grab yourself a massive slice for £2, or a full pizza for £10. Well, this January they’re extending the Happy Hour to include ALL DAY, every single day of the week. So from when it’s open until 10 pm – you can tuck into some seriously delicious cheap pizzas! I’d recommend the Chippy Tea every single day.
Cibo – 50% Off A La Carte
Half price food is what you are going to find throughout January at casual Italian restaurant Cibo. There is nothing quite like some Italian classics – and Cibo has them in droves. Kick things off with a plate of their traditional Antipasti to share. Follow this with their Capesante Gratinate, or perhaps a Pizza Calabrese topped with spicy Nduja, new potatoes and mascarpone. Randall & Aubin – Moules-frites and free beer + 4 Steaks for £29
Randall & Aubin, central Manchester’s one and only dedicated fish restaurant, has a few deals on in January for us to enjoy. First, you can enjoy a free Belgian beer when you order a steaming bowl of moules-frites on Tuesdays available noon-11pm. Second is their Steak Thursdays where you can enjoy four steak bavettes with fries and truffle-dressed watercress for just £29 (that’s £7.25 per person – for a steak!). This offer is available noon-11 pm on Thursdays. Booking is advance is recommended.
Volta – The Golden Ticket
Sharing is caring when you are at Volta down in West Didsbury, and this January they have a deal which comes in at better than half price which will have you fighting with your S.O over the last scrap. Pay £10 per person and choose one dish from three sections of the menu – dips, vegetables dishes/ salads, and meat/ fish (vegan options are also available). This deal is available Monday-Friday between noon and 7 pm and spaces are extremely limited to make sure you book in advance!
Proove – 10-100% off your food bill
Throughout December, my local pizzeria Proove down in West Didsbury has been handing out red envelopes. You are then encouraged to come back in January (unopened) and enjoy a meal of Italian street food and delicious Neapolitan pizza all washed down with an Aperol Spritz or two. When it comes to paying the bill, open your red envelope and you will receive anything from 10% to 100% off your bill. How exciting is that?! All we have to do now is get our paws on one of those pesky red envelopes…
Almost Famous – 50% OFF Burgers
Now, I’ve got to say that when it comes to burgers, I am all about a classic, or at least I was until I went to Almost Famous and became converted. Nowadays, give me a juicy burger and stack it with fried chicken, bacon, blue cheese and basically anything you can get your hands on. Those Nutella fries even sound inviting. From 7th January, enjoy your Almost Famous burgers half price at both locations every day apart from after 5 pm on Fridays and at the weekend. If there is one thing I love more than half price food, it is a bit of petty one-upmanship. This January, Barbeque Mavericks Red’s True BBQ are offering 51% off your food bill when you dine. This means you can tuck into their outrageous St. Louis Ribs, BBQ brisket, Mac & Cheese, pit beans and smoked sausage which will taste that little bit sweeter with that extra 1% of saving.

If you manage to sign up to the Store Street Exchange newsletter before the 2nd Jan, they’ll give you 50% off all your food every single day throughout January. If you forget to do this though don’t panic. Sign up after the 2nd Jan and they’ll give you 50% off from Thursday – Sunday instead. Still decent eh!?

Not only do I struggle to spell it but I also can’t actually pronounce it very well – Chaophraya is the place to be this January as they offer a lovely 50% off food for anyone who books a table in advance online. Grill on New York Street – 50% OFF Food
Sometimes, there is nothing better than a steak, and the guys over at the Grill on New York Street are absolute masters in finding you the perfect cut. Not only do they have every cut you could possibly think of, they also source their beef from every corner of the globe to give you and experience of beef like no other in the city. This January, you can enjoy half price steak when you book using the January sale link below and 20% off Sunday roasts too. It isn’t a secret that after a month of gorging ourselves on carbs and drinking ourselves into oblivion, January is the month to make some changes. We know going to the gym isn’t for everyone, but luckily Shoryu Ramen is offering a ‘Detox Menu’ for those who want a healthy start to the year. January is a time to recharge and recuperate, making their three-course menu option, the perfect deal at just £18. Choose from three courses to include a detox mocktail, two green salad sides and a choice of one of two healthy vegetarian ramen dishes. The menu runs from 2nd – 31st of January.
