Tucked away in the basement of NQ cocktail bar Alvarium, the brand-new food concept is in keeping with the bar’s garden theme.
Super cosy and beautifully designed, you’ll be greeted with plenty of friendly faces and some delicious vegan food & drinks at Black Leaf.
Their menu is mega, and it’s fully plant-based. Expect plenty of creative, innovative flavour combinations from Black Leaf’s award-winning chef Adam Leavy – who used his time in lockdown to develop new and exciting dishes for the vegan menu.
To start, there are dishes such as the Vegan Scotch Egg (£3.50) made with creamed turnips. Served with a slice of crispy toast to dunk straight into the runny ‘yolk’ – this will be the best Vegan Scotch Egg you’ll ever taste, we promise!
You’ll also find starters such as the Charred Watermelon (£2.75) with pistachio feta, pickled cucumber, sesame and basil oil.
Main dishes include the White Onion & Espresso Risotto (£8) with shallot and redcurrant jam, confit aubergine and onion ash and the Sweet Potato and Coconut Pakoras (£8) served on a bed of tomato, sweetcorn, coriander salsa, wild rice biryani and topped with charred baby corn.
Now for half price, you’re going to want to order plenty of sides but ESPECIALLY their Chunky Chips (£1.75) which come served with a thiccc chive mayonnaise (this dish is actually famed here in the Finest office)
There’s plenty of puds to finish the night on a high, including a deconstructed Black Forest (£3) which is of course completely dairy-free and features a delicious layer of creamy and thick chocolate flavoured mousse with hints of peppermint and sweet cherries. – so save enough room.
The food has been designed alongside their expertly crafted wine, beer & cocktail menu (which is also FULLY vegan!)
All prices shown are Monday’s prices only – get yourself booked in next week for some seriously budget-friendly vegan fine dining.
