In honour of Veganuary, Dive NQ have created 4 special dishes for the cause, transforming everybody’s favourite Asian food into vegan-friendly delights.
Naturally, we chomped at the bit to try some food so we rushed down to see how they match up to the original version.
First up, a vegan version of a Katsu Curry made with Crispy deep-fried butternut squash. First and foremost, this was absolutely delicious. It was everything you wanted from a Katsu Curry and more.
And I’ll tell you now, I did not miss the chicken one bit. I’d go as far as to say this was actually better than the chicken alternative that can often be overcooked and slightly dry.
The butternut, sweet potato and aubergine slices are the perfect substitute for meat with an amazing crunch and are seriously filling. But not that uncomfortable kind of filling, the good kind where you know you’ve eaten loads of veggies and nutrients to last you all week.
The dish is served with sticky rice, mixed leaf salad and plenty of vegan sauce.
Next up was another sweet potato dish but this time served in roasted chunks with Vegan curry sauce, rice and tenderstem broccoli.
And finally, by far my absolute favourite dish was the Shiitake Mushroom Hirata Buns. I’ve never had anything so deceivingly like meat.
Have you seen them Subway adverts at the minute where they all cack their pants because they think they’ve given the veggies the wrong subbers sandwich? Well, a similar situation to that happened to me eating this.
It took me a while to be convinced that this wasn’t meat. But maybe that was also because I’d definitely enjoyed Dive’s Happy Hour a little too much.
I urge you to get down to Dive NQ, take advantage of the 50% off and give the vegan dishes a go!
