This tour is, in many ways, one of your standard guides to the city. You will see some sites and enjoy some of the city’s historical landmarks and social projects which make Manchester what it is.

The biggest difference is your guide is someone you might not expect. Your guide is someone who has been affected by homelessness – who sees the city in a completely unique way.

Homelessness creates a vision of the city which is drastically different from what you or I experience. There will be parts you don’t know even if you have lived here all your life.

The aim of these tours is to demonstrate this ‘invisible city’ and give a personal insight into the past, present and future of homelessness here in the UK.

Not only is the tour an eye-opening and fun activity, Invisible Manchester actually helps people get off the streets too.

The training Invisible Manchester offers builds confidence and creates skills that are valuable in getting people off the streets and back into security.

This tour is educational and enjoyable in equal parts, with a wonderful guide who is happy to answer any of your questions about his or her experience of homelessness.

As a social enterprise, 100% of the profits are reinvested in the development and education of more guides or events like pamper days for homeless women or mobile barbers for men.

One of their tour guides Danny is an ex-veteran who spent years on the streets. He found support here in Manchester and is now a successful poet who uses his experience of homelessness to enrich the tours and his own personal work.

Combating stigmas around homelessness with his words, Danny’s tour will open your eyes to the real experiences of homeless people in Manchester.

Invisible Manchester’s tours take place in Manchester on Saturdays at 11 am and Sundays at 2 pm every weekend. It is a fantastic cause to be involved with and will show you a side of your city that you never knew existed.
