Test Card is Manchester ‘s unique audio visual meet-up and is the brainchild of Sean Clarke, the Creative Director of Texture in Manchester’s NQ. It is an integral part of Texture’s new in-house programming for 2016 and Sean continues to spearhead the concept.
The aim of the project is to create a Community to explore the development of new software, technologies and techniques in the area of audio visual performance and interactive storytelling. Test Cards utilises Texture’s state of the art projection, audio and lighting system to provide a platform for artists to showcase their work
Alongside the free monthly Test Card night, on the last Friday of every month, it will also be organising Test Card Talks from industry experts to disseminate and inspire. Having already played host to the groundbreaking Pedro Zaz, who presented his talk on fulldome projection mapping, Meat Cassette are stopping by from their alternate video dimension, and the boundary pushing Christopher Allen (The Light Surgeons) have already been confined to speak. There will be more announced over the coming months so it’s definitely a space to watch.
Texture will also be hosting a range of specialised Test Card workshops, featuring disciplines such as projection mapping, live performance sound, coding, film making and exploring VJ software such as Resolume. These workshops will be open to the public.
With education and community being the core values behind the project, Test Card will also be working in partnership with the Birmingham based Chromatouch and VJ London to create a UK network for sharing knowledge and promoting artists from London to Manchester via Birmingham, with more cities to come soon. The first example of this exchange will be on the 26th February were Test Card will be bringing up L’Aubaine from VJ London to showcase her amazing live cinema performance Morocco. The show takes takes the audience on a colourful and mesmerising road trip through Morocco mixed with impressions, memories, landscapes, people, art and sounds from the beautiful country itself.
Test Card is creating a buzz both all over the uk and internationally, in a city that is famed for it audio history Texture wants to add a visual element to the mix so get involved and get inspired!
