1st January is increasingly becoming the day of choice for people to celebrate the dawning of a new year, away from the inflated prices and crowds you find on ‘the Eve’, New Year’s Day has seen an influx of big parties, exclusive menus and more intimate experiences over the years.
This 2022 is no different, and here’s the best of what Manchester has to offer…
Exclusive New Year’s Day Menu at Tattu
Tattu has launched an exclusive lunch and dinner New Year’s Day menu this year, with the restaurant being open on January 1st for the first time ever. New Year’s Day begins from 12pm until late, where you can indulge in a sumptuous 4 Wave tasting menu and commence the new year as you mean to go on. Tattu also offers pre-orders for drinks, so as you are seated, there will await an ice cold bottle of the finest Dom Perignon Champagne, or its smoking Celestial Dragon sharer, a show-stopper cocktail, enough to wow your fellow guests.
The Blues Kitchen New Year’s Day Party with Norman Jay
Start the first day of the new year with a hearty brunch downstairs in the The Blues Kitchen restaurant from 11am, then, at 11.45am, The New Year’s Day Gospel Service will begin. Upstairs in the Concert hall, every Saturday afternoon The AMC Gospel Choir take to the stage for three sets of R&B, soul & dance classics given the gospel treatment through until 5pm. Bottomless drinks are served 12pm – 2pm and are available to order on arrival.
In the evening, the legendary Norman Jay will be taking to the decks upstairs for a very special New Year’s Day set, alongside the legendary Blues Kitchen house band who will take to the stage for three blistering live sets of classic funk, soul & rock n roll. Entry is free but you’ll need to hit the button and pop your name down on the guest list for entry.
Teletech at Hidden
Hidden are hosting a New Year’s Day shindig with a killer line-up of DJs making their manc-debuts, including; 999999999, Clara Cuve, Izzy Bolt, Kander and Parfait. The night blends the very best in techno, electro and acid and is looking to be a massive, not-to-be-missed party. Start the year as you mean to go on and all that?!
New Year’s Day at NAM
Exceptional London selector DJ, Donna Leake will take to the decks, alongside the Northern Jazz Crew from 5pm-late at NAM on New Year’s Day 2022. Expect unpredictable blends of jazz from around the world through the restaurant’s brand-new Klipschorn loudspeaker system that will smoothly roll you through to a wonderful new year. The restaurant will be open as normal and it will be free entry for all.
Silver Screen Classics at King Street Townhouse
You can catch a few movies at King Street Townhouse’s excellent in-house cinema this New Year’s Day – they’re showing three of em; Hamilton (2pm), The Great Gatsby (5pm) and The Greatest Showman (8pm). Included in the price is as much popcorn as you can eat, pick and mix and your choice of drink (a glass of wine or champagne, bottled beer, mulled wine, or soft drink).
Decoded at Gorilla
A free rave is coming to Gorilla for the first day of 2022! The line-up consists of Lucas Martin, Nathan Temple, Vales and Iysha and is being put on by Decoded, a DJ collective ‘dedicated to cutting edge house and up front techno’. The Loft NYD Marathon
If you fancy a 16 hour New Year’s Day marathon sesh, then the Loft has you covered. One of Manchester’s newer party destinations, the venue will host a mammoth party on the first day of the new year, with a headline set by Brawther. Known for his devotion to the dance floor, the French electronic music master will bring true garage and deep house sounds to the Loft for this incredible party. New Year’s Night at South with Real Gang Ibiza x Modum
Missing out on your annual New Year Trip to Ibiza because COVID has stepped on your toes again? Well, fear not, as South is putting on an Ibiza-style party to start the year properly. Expect Amnesia and DC-10 classics that will see DJs Real Gang and Modum play until 8am in true sunny Spain style.
New Year’s Day at The Greenhouse
Start the New Year on one of your favourite dance floors in the city! NYD is always a spicy one, so you can expect a doubly iconic day and night party, as the day will kick off with 10 hours in the Greenhouse from 1pm – 11pm before moving down into Kable Club for the afterparty from 11pm – 3am! The line up includes; Laurine & Cecilio, Josh Baker, Lvca, Local Dub and Jentzen.
Moxy Muzik & Darius Syrossian at Joshua Brooks
Joshua Brooks has cemented itself as a creative hub for DJs and music lovers since 1993, and that’s why this New Year’s Day it’ll be pulling out all the stops. The venue will host house music legend Darius Syrossian for a four hour b2b with George Smeddles. Definitely one for the New Year’s Day diary.
