Alvarium recently launched their downstairs dining concept, Black Leaf, a plant-based eatery slap bang in the heart of the NQ.

The launch saw the incredible Vegan Scotch Egg and Black Forest Gateaux that everyone is talking about.

But now it’s time for Sundays to take the reign and welcome you in with the nice warm hug that is a roast!

ROAST IS BACK BABY.

If for once second you think you’d miss animal produce – you won’t. There’s plenty going on on this spectacular plate of food that will keep your mind busy wondering if you should, in fact, go vegan if vegan tastes this good.

The roast features a large confit beetroot and spinach pithivier on a bed of slow-cooked puy lentils.

You’ll also find strips of cavolo nero, shiitake bacon fricassée, bread sauce bonbons, fondant potatoes and deep-fried heritage carrot skins.

There is, of course, a red wine and vegetable gravy that I’m going to say is the best gravy I’ve ever eaten.

Go all out and get three courses for £18, starting with a soup of the day served with bread and balsamic butter. Then finish with a delicious seasonal dessert.
