If you’ve been anywhere near Canal Street recently, or indeed Aytoun Street you’ll have noticed a ruck of buildings popping up, all adorned with the word ‘KAMPUS’.
Well, the very first stage of this brand-new development opened up last week and it looks set to be a green oasis in the centre of the city – injecting some well-needed nature into the heart of the city.
Set alongside the canal, opposite canal street, Kampus’ garden is packed full of plants, trees and foliage, creating a park that’s perfect for some al fresco dining or just a quiet retreat.
Friday also saw the launch of ‘Stall’ a new independent market from the team behind GRUB. It features around 20 stalls covering food, homeware, prints, clothes and jewellery from local traders.
GRUB will also be showcasing its brand new bottle shop, OFFY. Shoppers will be greeted with an assortment of canned craft beers, natural wines and an array of spirits to take home.
Those fancying a drink will be able to chose from 12 lines of craft beer brewed by local breweries such as Squawk Brewing Co, Pomona Island and Runaway brewery.
There will also be tasty mulled wine and hot cider. The Bootle Oyster will be serving up vegan fish and chips while Pitch Pizza is serving wood fired pizzas and Fritto are offering deep fried calzone.
Stall will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the 22nd December – the perfect excuse to check out the lush new gardens at Kampus.
The site is also set to feature over 500 apartments in two new blocks, two listed Victorian Warehouses and the existing brutalist 60’s tower. There will be greenery throughout and many open spaces and even a lush central garden.
Go check it out!
