This is a rather odd ‘world’s first’ isn’t it!? The world’s first dog-friendly cinema might sound a bit weird, but when you think about it – it’s actually pretty genius and I wish I’d thought of the idea first.
Personally I don’t have a dog, but when I was growing up I had two and there was nothing better than flinging on a VHS and then cuddling up to the big hairy buggers. When there was a dog on screen one of them growled a bit, but nothing too bad.
There are also LOADS of movies about dogs too, including some absolute corkers (and a few proper stinkers). Who could forget Beethoven? Homeward Bound? Cujo? Just as long as they’re not the atrocity that is Air Bud 2 – everything will be okay.
And so the Northern Quarter’s Ducie Street Warehouse have combined their love of cinema, and our four-legged friends, with their weekly ‘PAWPCORN‘ screenings.
They’re opening up their fantastic 36-seat ‘Mini-Cini’ every Monday evening where you can bring your dog and watch four-legged classics – from Isle of Dogs to Lassie via Turner & Hooch – and best of all – the ticket includes a selection of treats for both human and pooch alike.
For £5 you get entry into the cinema for you and your dog, plus a drink on arrival. So get yourself comfortable, make sure your pup is happy and sit and relax and enjoy movie time in a proper cinema on a Monday night.
For listings of the upcoming films this January, and to book your tickets, head on over to the Ducie Street Warehouse website (below) and, yes, Lassie is coming up!
