There’s nothing like a Sunday stroll around a local market during the first few sun-filled days of spring. Those of you familiar with the city’s roaring trade of pop-ups will be no stranger to the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, Manchester’s award-winning craft show that takes place at Victoria Baths each year, an event that’s now turning its hand to a unique online sale this weekend.

The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair online (GNCCFonline) returns for 2023 with 50 specially selected makers offering everything from textiles to jewellery, ceramics, furniture and more. Already confirmed for the remote 2023 sale, taking place online from Saturday 20 – Sunday 21 May, are jewellery designers Kate Lewis, Victoria Jarman, Beca Beeby and Judith Brown

Alongside handmade statement accessories, a huge range of creative interior pieces will be available to browse from UK-based designers and makers, including; Paul Islip, Nick James Design, Trevor Hopkins and Sophie Walker. There’ll also be ceramics and glassware to revamp and inspire your home as the seasons change, as well as textiles ranging from hand crafted clothes to plush cushions, scarves and wall hangings.

Whether you’re looking for a gift to commemorate a big birthday, or wanting to treat your loved one to a one-of-a-kind graduation gift, the online craft fair offers you the chance to beat the crowds and browse from the comfort of your sofa. Fair Director, Ann-Marie Franey said: “In an age of mass production we are pleased as punch to be bringing you the best of British craft in this digital format.

“GNCCFonline: Spring Edition is a window into a world of where people put their heart, soul and top notch skills into the products they make. As well as lots of fabulous work to buy throughout the weekend, there will be the opportunity to ‘visit’ makers virtually in their studios and watch them demonstrate their craft.”

As always, the selected exhibitors have been handpicked by a panel of expert judges that are focused on bringing beautiful craftsmanship to each fair. It will combine a range of local and national makers, who will also be available to answer any questions you may have about their products across the two day event.

NCCFonline Spring Edition goes live 8am Saturday 20 May 2023 on the fair’s website. There’ll also be special fair offers and maker open studios over the weekend on social media – follow #GNCCF for all of the details.

For an opportunity to buy work before the general public, anybody who signs up to the GNCCF mailing list via the website will get an exclusive invite to the preview evening on Friday 19 May 2023 from 6pm.
