This weekend marks one whole year of operation for Manchester bookstore UNITOM, which sits at the heart of the city’s legendary Stevenson Square.

The visual arts-led store offers shoppers a hand-picked collection of cultural inspiration, contemporary art, design, fashion, photography and more alongside a huge range of independent magazines, self-published titles sourced from publishers around the world.

To celebrate its first birthday, UNITOM will announce the winners of its Instagram competition giving two lucky winners £150 gift vouchers to spend in-store.

The first winner will be chosen at random on Saturday 10th of December, the second on Sunday 11th, both announced via Instagram stories.

As well as this, the store will host a special guest pop-up from Sheffield-based coffee roaster Cuppers Choice who will be serving up FREE cups all weekend long. The coffee roasters are known for their unique blends, trading directly with Emmanuel Rusatira of Baho coffee in Rwanda and we’re in talks with Thomas’ cousins in Yemen.

Visitors will also get a chance to try some complimentary macarons made by the English Rose Bakery, a small independent bakery based in Manchester. Founded in June 2010, the bakery brings joy to people right across the UK through various pop-ups and themed biscuits.

Since it was launched, UNITOM’s vision has been to create conversations and shared experiences, as well as provide a destination for people who love and collect art. Ran by a small team of creatives, the store has grown to be a popular point for those with a passion for art and alternative literature.

UNITOM will be open 10am – 7pm Saturday and 10am – 5.30pm Sunday.
