Midland’s-based theatre company, The Empathy Club has announced an exclusive premiere of its brand-new production ‘Taking Up Space’ in Manchester from the 24th – 27th July.
The entire production is written, directed and performed by queer women, featuring India Erlam as Jasreena and Megan Rose Webber as Saffy – and will be in intimate affair with only 20 tickets available per performance.
It follows Jasreena, Saffy and Gia as they navigate their way around love, friendship and sex from their distant worlds. Can they step into their power, or will they be shrunk due to secrecy and expectation?
India is a member of the National Youth Theatre and has recently trained as Acting Foundation Course at the Oxford School of Drama. She will also be starting her BA for Stage and Screen at Bristol School of Acting from September.
Megan is an actor from South London who is currently based in Liverpool. Having recently completed training at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) she has connected with new people, and worked on some exciting projects.
She is also looking forward to joining the National Youth Theatre this summer on the senior course.
Debuting at Manchester’s Northern Quarter ping pong dive bar, Twenty Twenty Two, the show is taking place as part of 2022’s Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.
The fringe takes place every year at different venues across the city and creates a platform for arts participation and introduction into the creative community.
This year, the festival has everything from film debuts to stand up comedy, poetry and immersive theatre shows. Tickets are often priced low for each event, and gain guests entry to a great selection of obscure, local art.
Twenty Twenty Two is one of many venues that are taking part in this year’s fringe. The basement dive bar houses ping pong tables and art events in its space situated in the heart of Northern Quarter.
Over the weekend, the bar also transforms into a wild party spot with DJs spinning tracks until the early hours!
