If I wasn’t happily married then I think I’d have probably thrown in the towel in the dating game by now – totally committed to a life of celibacy, Pot Noodles and too-long sessions on World of Warcraft. Especially with these recent lockdowns which must have made the dating game about a million times harder.
So the idea of going out on a date is certainly one that’s now racked with uncertainty and indecision. You can’t both just meet up in a pub or over a nice meal any more, so you have to think outside the box – which is where Lightopia comes in this December.
The award-winning visually spectacular lantern and light festival has returned to Heaton Park, and they’ve released special date-night tickets, ideal for late-night explorers to see the light trail. The dual tickets admit entry for two people to the event from 8pm onwards.
This year’s event also features new themes and creations to discover! Lighting up Manchester this winter, and throughout the festive season, Lightopia 2020 revealed new installations and a brand-new route for guests to explore.
The new route has been designed to create a safe environment, where Lightopians are able to see the sights safely with friends and family; there are also wider footpaths to maintain social distancing, three entry points to reduce queuing and direct access to two car parks.
New themes to uncover include a stand-out Christmas showcase, which uses the Grade I-listed Heaton Hall as its sparkling backdrop. Enjoy the most wonderful time of the year at Lightopia, featuring a 10-metre illuminated candy-covered Christmas tree and Santa’s sleigh.
Lightopia will be open to the public until Sunday 10th January. The event is open every day, except Christmas Day. Opening times are between 5pm to 10pm, and last entry is 8.30pm daily.
Date night tickets are available from £32, admitting entry for two people to the event from 8pm onwards. Dates still available to book include December 26th – January 10th (Timeslots – 20:00 or 20:20).
