Wes Anderson films are pretty weird. They’re always full of whimsical, odd characters, strange situations and inhabiting places that seem almost otherwordly. Like fairy tales. But with better fashions.

Pretty much forging his very own highly unique style over the last 20 years, Anderson’s films have delved into everything from an island of stray dogs, to a train journey through the heart of India, as well as tackling one of Roald Dahl’s most cherished works, and smashing it out of the park with Fantastic Mr. Fox.

There’s no denying the fella is impressive, and some would even go so far as to say that he is a genius. And so it seems that the people over at Red Bank’s Chapeltown Picture House feel the same because they’re set to host a Wes Anderson Double Bill in September, featuring undoubtedly two of the director’s most cherished films.

Taking place on Sunday 11th September from 1pm, the double bill kicks off with The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) the tale of three gifted siblings (Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller and Luke Wilson), brought back together by their estranged father (Gene Hackman) who has announced that he is dying.

Then at 4pm it’s the turn of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), which charts an expedition to kill a shark by documentary maker Steve Zizzou (Bill Murray) and his crew of oddballs.

Tickets for each film cost just £5, or you can get both of them for £7.50.
