Kicking off on Thursday 22nd September, the festival will take over Cathedral Gardens over the weekend, returning again the following Thursday until Sunday 2nd October.
The space will be home to the festival’s main ‘Hub’, housing their Beer Bar (helped by Joseph Holt), Street Food Village and Artisan Markets, plus many of the various events, workshops and discussions.

Top Chefs taking charge of the Festival Fire Pit
Thursday 22nd – Sunday 2nd October
MFDF presents their first ever Festival Fire Pit, coming to the Hub for both weekends to create the ultimate British barbie. Sponsored by Weber, one of the world’s leading barbecue specialists, the Festival Fire Pit will invite some of the region’s best-loved chefs to cook over fire for a massive festival feast. Amongst those who will be bringing their own specialist BBQ flavours to the fire pit are Caroline Martins, founder of the Sao Paulo Project, Francisco Martinez from Fazenda and Robert Owen Brown.
The Best of Manchester’s Street Food Vendors
Thursday 22nd – Sunday 2nd October
The Festival Hub will host its very own Street Food Village across the two weekends, with everything from juicy burgers to woodfired pizzas, Spanish to Ethiopian – there’s plenty to be found here from Manchester’s very best street food vendors. On the first weekend, you’ll find The Spinn, Ill Forno, House of Habesha, Hip Hop Chip Shop, Mi & Pho and Cafe Cannoli, while the second weekend will feature Grandad’s Sausages, I Knead Pizza, What’s Your Beef, Herbivorous, Parmogeddon and Oh My Glaze.
4-Course Seafood & Tattinger Champagne Feast at TNQ
Thursday 22nd – Thursday 29th September
Honouring their location next to the old Smithfield Fish Markets, TNQ will be offering a Champagne & Seafood menu throughout the Festival. You can enjoy a glass of Tattinger Champagne on arrival and a 4-course menu, comprising of an Amuse Bouche, Starter, Main & Dessert all for £50 per person. Check the menu here.
‘£25 for 25 Years’
Thursday 22nd September – Sunday 2nd October
Across the city for the duration of the festival, MFDF have curated a line-up of fantastic restaurants to take part in their £25 for 25 years menu collaboration. Northern Quarter favourite DISTRICT will be creating an exclusive £25 menu to showcase 3 New Wave Thai dishes, while Embankment Kitchen have also created an exclusive £25 menu. Northenden legends Mi&Pho have a Vietnamese take on the exclusive menu offer, as well as Three Little Words who have created a ‘Taste of the Distillery’ cocktail menu complete with grazing board.
Octopus Cookbook Confidential Demos
Saturday 24th September
The Hub will also host the Octopus Cookbook Confidential demo kitchen on Saturday in collaboration with Octopus Books. Top chefs and industry experts will be coming together to share their tips, ideas and knowledge in cookery demos, conversations and debate discussions. This will include Pip Payne and Nicky Corbishley, Joe Woodhouse, Josh Katz, David Bez, Jeremy Pang, Kate Humble and Jaega Wise with Joel Harrison.
The FREE Coffee Rave with Factory Coffee
Friday 30th September
‘Coffee Shop of the Year’ nominee, Factory Coffee, will be serving the ultimate pick-me-up with their ‘Coffee Rave’ on Friday 30th September between 12pm and 3pm. Head on down to the Festival Hub and enjoy FREE coffee from one of Manchester’s most impressive coffee shops. As well as free espressos and flat whites, Factory have teamed up with the Rogue Artisan ice cream to offer festival go-ers an exclusive opportunity to try their incredible affogatos, all for free, whilst local DJ rareBit will be spinning the decks.
The Leftovers Kitchen
Saturday 1st October
Manchester Food & Drink Festival will be teaming up with Recycle for Greater Manchester and Open Kitchen MCR to host ‘The Leftover Kitchen’ – a full-day event surrounding demonstrations on how to ditch excess food waste and cook amazing meals with leftovers from the fridge.
Zouk’s Indian Bottomless Buffet with Whole Roasted Lamb
Sunday 2nd October
Wrapping the whole festival up nicely will be the team over at Zouk, who’ll be hosting one of their famous celebration bottomless buffets. Including unlimited food and a choice of drink (Kingfisher, soft drink or wine), the buffet includes salads, starters, curries, whole roasted lamb raan and a selection of accompaniments. All for just £25 per person. There is a 50% discount for children under 12 and children under 5 eat for free.
The MFDF Curry Club

The famous Curry Club was postponed for the period of royal mourning, so the new date is yet to be confirmed, but it’ll feature the very best from Manchester’s ever-growing Asian culinary scene including national favourite Dishoom, local gem Lily’s, The Little Sri Lankan, Aunty Ji’s, Nila’s Burmese Kitchen and Cheeky Tikka.
Wine Fest at New Century
Friday 7th – Saturday 8th October
Mancunian wine lovers, whether it be red, white or both, can jump in joy, as this year’s MFDF will see the return of Wine Fest. Taking place at the iconic New Century, the two days will proudly showcase some of the finest wine retailers in Greater Manchester. The likes of Its Alive, Sip, Supper, Grape to Grain, Cork of the North, Italy Abroad, UkiYO Republic and Isca Wines, will all be peddling their plonks in this incredible setting. Tickets can be purchased from the MFDF website and are £15 per person.
