Taking place on Tuesday 13th September, the Little Sri Lankan will land in Levenshulme as it takes over Isca Wines for an evening of feasting across two sittings at 5.45pm and 8pm.

Guests will see the mobile kitchen serve up a number of owner Malanie’s family recipes, showcasing some of the best Sri Lankan cuisine in Manchester using local and seasonal produce paired with wines expertly picked by the team at Isca.

The menu is a mix of small plates, curries and desserts, including traditional recipes like the Seeni Bun – a delicacy filled with a spicy caramelised onion relish and a hard boiled egg – alongside Mutton Pancake Rolls, which are deep-fried and reminiscent of spring rolls and Jackfruit Cutlets that are accompanied by Archie’s Chilli Sauce.

Malanie will then serve a selection of traditional Sri Lankan Curries and Rice featuring a traditional Fried Pork Curry, a coconut-based Parippu, Red Rice, Aubergine Pickle, Mallung, and Pol Sambol – a delicious Sri Lanken coconut relish.

For dessert, the chef is crafting a homemade Watalappan with a Coconut Tuille. Watalappan is a coconut custard pudding made using condensed milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs and various spices. It’s rich and fragrant, offering a warm end of meal hug.

Brought to you by Malanie Tillekeratne and Michael Hooper, The Little Sri Lankan began its journey back in 2020, when we were all in the clutches of the COVID-19 pandemic and some had fallen victim to the dreaded furlough.

Looking to offer something different to the people of Manchester, couple Malanie and Michael began creating Sri Lankan Curry Ready Meals from precious family recipes for delivery, and they proved to be a huge success.

Since then they’ve jumped head-first into the city’s thriving street food scene, offering up a regularly changing menu of traditional, authentic Sri Lankan curries and ‘Short Eats’ at markets across the city.

Tickets for September’s supper club at Isca Wine’s cost £40 per person and get you the full three-course meal. Isca’s paired wines will have to be purchased separately.
