Relaunching today, Lucky Ramen and Sushi will open its doors once again after a short hiatus, equipped with a brand-new sushi menu expertly crafted by its latest chef.

Known for its late night dining experience that’s focused on fresh bowls of stewed ramen, the restaurant has been closed for just over a month and its reopening is very eagerly anticipated, especially with the expertise of its new sushi chef.

To give you a feel of what to expect from the new concept, we made the trip to check out some of the new dishes before it opens to the public today and were, as ever, seriously impressed.

Scouring the menu, we decided on the Sashimi Platter, the Nigiri Platter and the signature Lücky Uramaki Roll which is sushi rice filled with tempura prawn that is then topped with seared salmon – a must-try.

Still operating out of Mule on Blossom Street, where the restaurant takes over the kitchen from 5pm – 10pm every Wednesday – Thursday, Lucky Ramen transforms the brunch spot into a Tokyo-inspired late-night ramen and cocktail bar complete with seriously good grub.

The ramen here is prepared by the head chef who has over 15 years of experience making the unique Asian broth. We went for the pork belly ramen that had an unmistakable depth of flavour, as the noodles are all hand rolled in-house and the 3-hour slow-braised pork belly just melts in your mouth.

Another string to Lucky Ramen’s bow is their excellent cocktail menu, which has been designed by the very talented team at Mule. You’ll find refreshingly ice-cold tipples that span gin, vodka, whisky and their own take on some timeless classics.

Lucky Ramen and Sushi will reopen its doors from 5pm this evening, so get down to Ancoats for some hand crafted sushi, ramen and bespoke cocktails. The restaurant doesn’t taken bookings, so just turn up and hope for no queues!
