Bondi Bowls, the Manchester-based healthy fast food sensation inspired by Australia’s iconic Bondi Beach, is all set to establish its permanent outpost at the Kampus neighbourhood this summer.

Born out of founder Jamie Tones’ time in sun-drenched Sydney, the Bondi Bowls concept offers a refreshing alternative to the fast food scene in the UK. The establishment began as a pandemic-born delivery-only service from Jamie’s home, and it quickly amassed a loyal customer base, drawing fans of its fresh and vibrant flavours. Successful stints at locales such as Hatch and Escape to Freight Island further solidified its place in Manchester’s food scene.

The Kampus location, envisaged by design studio No Chintz, promises a modern, relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of Australian beach culture. While the menu champions plant-based offerings, customers can also add non-vegan extras catering to a wider audience. Jamie Tones, while discussing the venture, remarked, “We aim to deliver the vibrancy and personality of Australian healthy fast food in Manchester. With bowls that are both nutritious and flavourful, we offer a departure from the usual fare that many settle for when trying to eat healthily.”

Bondi Bowls’ all-day brunch, stretching from dawn to dusk, will incorporate inspirations from across the globe, from India and Mexico to Australasia. Special mentions include the popular Açaí and Poké Bowls, which have already proven to be customer favourites during its delivery days.

This enterprise is not just a business, but a dream realised for the 30-year-old chef, Jamie, who after globetrotting and gathering experience from restaurants worldwide, has finally carved out his personal space.

Situated amid the verdant communal gardens of Kampus, Bondi Bowls finds itself in good company with local giants like Pollen bakery. This addition to Kampus strengthens its lineup of independent food ventures, which already includes stalwarts like Nell’s Pizza, Yum Cha, Beeswing, Great North Pie, and the newly inaugurated Madre.
